    Me 10 years ago; "I want a huge chest." Me 80,000 push ups and 6 months later with extreme changes in intensity; "Push ups only build up some men's chests well, but others it's an extremely poor exercise for building muscle. Ultimately, I still love the push up and see it as a general purpose exercise that absolutely kicks a lot of ass." My experience was that it wasn't a bodybuilding and hypertrophy exercise for me, and to get such results, the level of effort was way too much. *This is consistent for anyone that wants a lot of muscle anywhere, and wants to use calisthenics exclusively for that.*

    Getting "bodybuilding and hypertrophy" results ultimately depends more on diet than any single exercise... That said, the standard, basic push-up is really only one step in the journey... if you thought simply cranking more and more reps forever was the key to maximizing gains from this exercise, then you're mistaken.

    The push-up will allow you to lay the foundation for a muscular chest. You will build muscle, but not to the extent of how much you can grow with barbell / dumbbell presses. - To say it is a “poor” exercise isnt really that fair. Every exercise has its place in your fitness journey my friend 💪🏻

    Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but that Sphinx Pushup doesn't look like a valuable exercise to me at all. It places a heck of a load on the elbow joint while neither stretching the long tricep head nor fully contracting the short heads because of the positioning of the arm relative to the body. But other than that, this is good stuff as far as I'm concerned :-)

    Literally if you can do it. Buy a set of bands. I got five quality ass ones for like 90 bucks on Amazon and that’s in Australian and they’ve lasted me nearly a year with no signs of tearin and I use those with regular pushups to adds strain. Honestly I highly recommend trying out some bands with regular pushups

    Hey Scott I'm 17 and just getting into weight lifting . I do hammer curls , bicep curls and dumbbell overhead extensions and wrist curls for my forearms .     I did a body weight program march thru June during lockdown. Really improved my pushups! I went from 28 reps in a max set to 45 to 50 pushups in a failure set. Now I'm doing a size program and push ups to failure followed by 2x reps within 4 1/2 minutes is the month 1 chest finisher after doing 10x10 or 10x5 barbell or dumbbell incline bench press. Strength and size have increased!

    Man, the chest workout that has gotten my chest the most sore, since I've started working out early this year, has been a simple one I think I got from you Scott. Floor flys followed immediately (superset) by pushups, from 15 reps down to 5 reps. I think it's probably because I'm still crap at pressing exercises, so when I do those I just don't get as much chest activation as others do. I'm slowly getting better but that fly/pushup workout has gotten my chest insanely sore while most of my "typical" chest workouts have no soreness at all.

    I did like 3 weeks of hardcore yard work at my home. Lots of raking, digging, etc and tweaked my traps/shoulder so my massage therapyst does a bit of cupping after all the massaging and scraping at the end of my sessions to help loosing up the areas

    Single-arm elevated push-ups sounds like a nice alternative to the Archer push-ups. Definitely giving those a shot after my current mesocycle. I’m currently on week 4 out of 6 in my mesocycle.

    I take so many supplements to try to help with nitric oxide/pump while these guys just take a little test and have fucking road maps without trying.
